YYY's (A-Trak Remix), Phoenix (Alex Metric Remix), Sunday Girl (Diplo Remix)

A-Trak has done something ingenious here by transforming Yeah Yeah Yeah's smash hit "Heads Will Roll" into a complete club banger. It pleases a die hard YYY's fan such as myself to hear this song being played at clubs, parties, and house jams. The original is fantastic like the rest of 2009's "It's Blitz!" but you couldn't really groove to it like you can to this one. Karen O's voice seriously compliments house music; if only there were other DJs good enough to remix her other works. Thank you, A-Trak! You're the shit.

2009's "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" was hailed as one of the best albums of the year, and certainly the one that brought the band mainstream success. In fact, it was so cherished by the music community that many bands and DJ's wanted to interpret the songs in their own way. "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix: Remixes" features remixes by Animal Collective, Passion Pit, Chairlift, The Soft Pack, Two Door Cinema Club, and Friendly Fires. However, none of the songs on the album are meant for the dancefloor like one would have anticipated, except for Alex Metric's skillful take of "Lisztomania." It conserves the pop but adds a shit ton of house to it which makes it one of the best Phoenix jams to groove to.

Sunday Girl's unique brand of synth pop has become the most talked about sensation in the U.K. The 21 year old Jade Williams has only released two songs since March, "Self Control" and "Four Floors," and Diplo, famous for Major Lazer and remixing songs by M.I.A. and Santogold, has produced his own rendering of "Four Floors," available for all music enthusiasts to revel in.
The remix pertains very much to Diplo's style of dubstep; it sounds similar to Santogold's "Creator" which coincidentally was produced by Diplo's counterpart in "Major Lazer," Switch. There is no word yet on when Sunday Girl's first proper LP will be released but it doesn't seem likely to be this year. Fun fact: Sunday Girl is not a reference to Blondie but actually a nickname Jade earned by working only Sundays at a pet shop in her home town of Broxbourne.
