Best Coast @ Lee's Palace
Best Coast played Lee's Palace tonight with British lo-fi punk outfit Male Bonding. Though lead singer Bethany Cosentino regretted to inform the crowd that she was sick, the surf pop trio still put on a wicked show playing pretty much everything from their debut Crazy For You as well as songs from EPs that first made them popular, like "Sun Was High" and "Wish He Was You." Highlight was when a guy in the audience passed the joint he was smoking to Bethany and she said this was Best Coast history, her first time smoking a joint on stage. If you listen to Best Coast you'll know all her lyrics are either about a guy, or about getting stoned. Fun fact: there's a wicked video of her smoking a blunt with Freddie Gibbs on Pitchfork TV. The band gave a ton of props to Toronto, claiming it their second favourite besides their hometown thanks to their loyal fans who have seen every show. Plus I'm guessing Bethany enjoys the pot.
