The Walkmen - Juveniles
The Walkmen just released their sixth LP in eight years, Lisbon, named after Portugal's capital, which had quite a bit of influence on the ensemble. Unlike the darker sounds of its predecessor You & Me, Lisbon is a more positive record, urging its listeners to experience everything out there. Hamilton Leithauser's lyrics on the record are equally uplifting; on album opener "Juveniles" he sings "I'm a good man by any count/I see better things to come." The record is more classically influenced than any previous Walkmen works, consisting of ballads, waltzes and some old school rock n roll. Their first single, the trumpet heavy "Stranded," is inspired by fifties New Orleans jazz. Though there's nothing as fierce as "The Rat," Lisbon is a calmer record of substance with no hidden passageways. Download below, and check out the live version
