Long overdue mention to this track. Let me preface this by saying that I owe my love for Ellie Goulding to the indie label, Neon Gold, on which her first single “Under the Sheets” was released. Neon Gold quite literally has the Midas touch, releasing magic like Passion Pit and Marina & the Diamonds in their first 2 years of life. I have been following them since their start as the music blog Good Weather for Airstrikes (which I mourn daily for the loss of entirely amazing dance mixes) and have yet to be disappointed. That said, I am a sucker for anything electro pop. Give me anything fronted by a sweet female voice and I’m already sold. This remix has all the soft vulnerability and emotion that makes Goulding’s voice so endearing, injected with a dose of ethereal dance. There’s something else here though, a faintly ominous undercurrent running though the verses, perhaps created by synths that almost echo a siren. Regardless, this is a dance track so forget the thinking and just enjoy.
